The Airedale Story

Airedale International Corporate Air Conditioning Limited designs and manufactures a wide range of air conditioning products for a world-wide market. The company began its operations in 1974 at its Leeds factory and has grown to become the largest privately owned air conditioning manufacturer in the United Kingdom with world-wide sales in excess of £30 million. Investment has been a vital part of our success story, is a major element in our current plans and is the cornerstone of our commitment to the future.

Our inventiveness and determination to be leaders has resulted in continuous product development programmes for chillers, close control and comfort products. We are also recognised as a leader in the use of new refrigerants having worked with ICI on the development of R407C. From this pioneering programme we launched the environmentally friendly chilled water cooling system known as Keep Kool ® .

As a world-wide company it will come as no surprise that our manufacturing operations are not confined to the UK World demand has meant that we need production in a wider geographical area and Airedale designed products are now manufactured in the USA and South Africa.

As the company has grown so have our world-wide operations and we now employ over 400 staff internationally designing, manufacturing and distributing air conditioning products to more than 50 countries through a network of well established business partnerships plus Airedale divisions based in North America, South Africa, Germany, France and the UK. Just what you would expect from a company that manufactures air conditioning products designed to handle every world-wide environment.

State of the art Factory

Efficient high quality manufacturing is essential in the competitive world arena. We are justifiably proud of our manufacturing base and our modern 25,000 square metre UK headquarters and production facility in Leeds. Vertical integration of the manufacturing process from sheet metal to finished product, Just In Time production, stringent Quality Control and on-line testing mean efficient, cost controlled products which are built with care and have a deserved reputation for reliability. AIAC (SA) operates from a 1200 square metre factory and employs 20 people in total. All the products which are manufactured locally comply with the quality and design standards as by Airedale U.K.

Commitment to the environment

Protecting the environment is a major need and we take care to ensure our products are developed and manufactured with this in mind. Use of R407C, noise reduction and the use of recyclable components are all key priorities. Naturally all Air Conditioning products are tested for leaks before despatch and our development of fully packaged products has reduced on-site refrigerant handling.
