Innovation, the life force

Innovation is the life force of Modine and Airedale and is the key to their success. Innovative product development has set industry standards and given Modine and Airedale the edge when it comes to manufacturing expertise and overcoming industry, economic and environmental challenges.

Airedale – our customers’ first choice

Fine tuning its products to meet the demands of a wide range of market and customer requirements has ensured that Airedale remains the first choice for air conditioning in many industrial sectors including telecommunications, banking and commerce, leisure, retail, defence and education.

Global Manufacturing

Airedale products are sold to more than fifty countries world-wide, delivering quality products through a network of well-established business partners and distributors. The principal research and development functions for its global manufacturing facilities in USA, South Africa and China, are carried out in the UK at Airedale’s state of the art Test Centre, and modified to satisfy the demands of major international markets.

R&D promotes Energy Efficiency

Airedale products are developed with skill and care to ensure that their impact on the environment is kept to a minimum. ‘Green’ issues such as carbon reduction technology now play a major role in all Airedale Research and Development programmes. Particular attention is paid to the energy efficiency of all Airedale products to ensure that running costs and environmental effects are minimised. Airedale products are assembled using the very best materials and components available, and extensively tested before despatch.

Manufacturing Expertise and Test Facility

Delivering air conditioning solutions to a wide variety of discerning customers, with diverse requirements and problems, demands the highest levels of investment in manufacturing technology, systems and skilled engineers. Airedale’s UK plant and cutting-edge Test Centre feature the very best facilities. Designed and built to exceed stringent international standards, the Airedale Test Centre is capable of testing a complete range of air conditioning equipment with cooling and heating capacities from 2kW to 120kW and chillers up to 1MW, the climate temperature being fully controllable anywhere from –5°C to +55°C.

DX, chilled water, dual cool, freecooling, etc

SmartCool is a next generation, precision cooling solution that can significantly reduce energy consumption and increase uptime. Within its sleek, compact exterior lies a synergy of advanced technology and cutting-edge components, creating a sophisticated and highly flexible system. In IT and other critical environments, SmartCool delivers efficient and intelligent cooling of fluctuating heat loads to maintain precise control.

Maximising energy efficiency and uptime

A choice of seven system types are available in DX (air/water cooled) or chilled water. They include DualCool options featuring DX and chilled water within the same case for built-in redundancy.

A raft of state-of-the-art options maximise efficiency and control allowing the most optimum, flexible and energy efficient solution to be selected. SmartCool's control logic, dual power and DualCool options within the case are designed to meet the N+1 and 2N redundancy requirements of critical data centre applications.

The free-cooling variant of DualCool uses 46% less energy than a standard air cooled DX system. At a nominal £0.11/kWHour this equates to a saving of approximately £8000/year or 31,000kg of CO2. Modular design and control logic allow easy expansion of the system when room load increases.Multiple units of different size and capacity can be looped together, with the potential for even greater savings in energy costs when linked with one or more Airedale free-cooling chillers.
